SHED STORIES is the latest production from Casson & Friends - seamlessly blending theatre, movement and documentary to shine a light on the growing phenomenon of ‘Men’s Sheds’ and the communities around them. Inspired by more than 24 hours of interviews with the people who attend and organise these community spaces across the country, the show combines real-life interviews with compelling movement to celebrate these unique spaces where men (and women) can create, connect and thrive. Unique, touching and intimately staged in the round, SHED STORIES is full of human, humorous and heartwarming tales of making sawdust, friends, and cups of tea! The work balances its joyful and celebratory tone, with an exploration of timely themes including aging, community, creativity and mental health. The work entertains & engages a broad range of audiences, but may be of particular interest to those aged 60+, people who enjoy crafts & woodworking, or anyone who has ever organised or been part of a community group! C&F have a long history of making high-quality work that is designed for Rural Touring and accessible to all ages, by using relatable themes to create our unique brand of #PeoplePoweredPerformance. Our performances are created by interviewing people from communities across the country, and combining theatre, documentary & movement - making the work particularly well suited to audiences new to dance. We strive to make our work as accessible as possible, offering integrated captioning to make the work particularly suitable for D/deaf & Hearing Impaired audiences. We also run a Q&A alongside each performance, as we find audiences enjoy sharing their own 'SHED STORIES' and discussing the themes that arise.
